There's a lot riding on your brakes, so it's important to make sure that they are in top condition. Just like you need to put gas in your vehicle regularly and get the oil changed, you also need to service your brakes regularly. So, how often exactly? A good rule of thumb is to have them serviced every 12,000 miles or if it's been over a year. If your vehicle pulls to one side when you apply the brake, or if you hear squealing or grinding, or if you can press the brake pedal all the way to the floor-take it in ASAP. If you keep up on your regular brake maintenance you can avoid most problems. It is when we forget about our brakes and neglect them, that we run into more issues. Your warning light on your dash should also tell you, so look for that, as well.
