Tire rotation is an important part of making sure you get the most out of your tire’s life and also help you get more out of your gas mileage and help your suspension components last longer as well. Most cars have their engines in the front which means most of the weight is put there as well causing uneven wear with most of the stress being put on the front wheels.

When you move the tires from the front to the back, this makes sure that both sets of tires get equal wear on them. The question then becomes how should it be done and how often should you rotate your tires? For the latter question, a good rule of thumb is to rotate them when you change your oil. For the former, it depends on the tire. If they are directional then you swap the front and the back, if they are non-directional then it is best to change your tires in an X-shape, for example, your driver’s side front will become your passenger’s side rear when completed.
